Snake Valley

Situated between Beaufort and Ballarat, the tiny town of Snake Valley is one of the few localities in Victoria's Pyrenees Shire with a growing population.

Although the town lost its bank and a visiting doctor over 20 years ago, a recent influx of 100 new residents has boosted the population to 350 and galvanised the community to upgrade its facilities and attract services back into town.

The Pyrenees Community Building Project is one of the Victorian Government's 10 Community Building Demonstration Projects. The project focuses on Snake Valley and a range of other towns including Avoca, Beaufort, Landsborough and Lexton.
