A rich history of racing at Willaura

WITH the Ararat Turf Club’s Willaura Cup Meeting to be held on February 8th, and the Victorian Autumn Racing Carnival beginning in March, many people’s thoughts will veer from holidays to horses. Years ago, plenty of small towns boasted their own racetrack, and regular meetings were held across the country. Willaura was one of these towns, and for many decades horses thundered round its course to the cheers of excited onlookers.
