With growth of 56%, President Lyn Harvey was thrilled to be called to accept the Alvie Ferry Perpetual Trophy on behalf of the club.

“I am so proud of our club’s achievements over the past year. We are a busy and active club and involved in activities which appeal to ladies across the community,” she said.

Whilst well known for cooking, the Beaufort Branch has a strong focus on community connection and advocacy.

At the Conference, a number of resolutions were considered which highlight the strength of the advocacy aspect of the CWA including the preservation and protection of agricultural zoned land in Victoria for primary production, protection for the continued use of cash as payment for goods and services and legislation to ensure that small livestock producers have ongoing access to kill facilities to allow for mobile and micro-abattoirs to offer services to these producers.

The conference also discussed and debated the controversial Emergency Services and Volunteers Levy.

Cooking and craft are enjoyed by a number of the members and support the Beaufort branch’s ability to generate projects such as Hope in a Suitcase and Field of Poppies in the past year.

The branch has been very active in lobbying Pyrenees Shire Council in relation to retiree housing in the Beaufort community close to the central shopping and medical precinct.
