Slice, soup and support for Stawell Hospital
THE ladies from the Stawell Hospital Auxiliary are hoping to attract local workers and shoppers at lunch time tomorrow (Thursday) when they host a Soup, Sandwiches and Slice lunch at the Stawell Town Hall.
The lunch will offer people the chance to enjoy hearty home made soup, slices and sandwiches while helping to raise money for the local hospital.
Auxiliary member Pam Byron said the lunch is an important fundraiser for the group which funds items to improve the comfort of people staying at Stawell Hospital.
“It goes to equipment to enhance the care and comfort of patients,” she said.
“We will all be busy in the days leading up to the lunch. We will have two varieties of home made soup, an assortment of sandwiches and lovely home made slices,” she said.
“The Wine and Cheese night is our big fundraiser for the year but the lunch also helps us raise money.
Mrs Byron said the group makes sure the funds raised go towards important items for the hospital.
“We are in the process of buying a tele-health cart for (the hospital’s) urgent care,” she said.
Auxiliary Treasurer Merrilyne Middleton said the Stawell community are always supportive events that benefit the hospital.
“We get excellent support, no matter what we do. We are very, very fortunate with local people,” Mrs Middleton said.
In the past 12 months, the auxiliary has donated $10,000 for new chairs for Stawell Hospital’s urgent care and operating suites as well as $12,500 to purchase new surgical instruments for patients undergoing eye surgery.
The Soup, Sandwiches and Slices lunch will be held at Stawell Town Hall on Thursday the 25th of June ()tomorrow) at a cost of $20 per person.
