Tehan resigns from front bench, runs for deputy

THE Member for Wannon Dan Tehan is one on many Liberals who resigned from Shadow Cabinet yesterday ahead of a leadership spill this morning. A statement was issued by Mr Tehan which said; "This afternoon I tendered my resignation as Shadow Minister for Energy and Emissions Reduction and Acting Shadow Minister for Resources and Northen Australia. Tomorrow I will nominate for the position of Deputy Leader of the Liberal Party. This is not a decision I have taken lightly. If I am successful, there are four priorities I will make my focus. We need to immediately unify, hold this dreadful Albanese Labor Government to account, develop a policy manifesto true to our values and make us match fit to win elections." A vote on the Liberal Leadership will take place this morning where Angus Taylor is tipped to defeat the Liberals first female leader Sussan Ley.
